Reading Disciplinary Knowledge Progression
We have adopted a MIRRORS and WINDOWS collection of books that celebrate diversity in society.
MIRRORS– We hope that all of our children are able to see themselves in some books at school.
WINDOWS– We hope that all of our children are able to look out into the world and learn about as well as celebrate diversity.
Our collection of books are on order and will be supplemented with new additions yearly. Take a look below to see the range of books for each Key Stage.
*Reading Records: Please note our home/school reading records are not used as a teaching tool or any other diagnostic type tool (class teachers have this information in class.) They are merely a record of noting down when pupils have read.
To support Parents/Carers at home with their child’s reading, class teachers will post an age-related VIPERS question on Dojo for homework each week that adults at home can use to support their child when reading at home. Pupils reading a RWI Phonics home book will complete that in-line with RWI expectations
